Located at the heart of the market town of Barnard Castle, The Witham Hall has a Grade II listed frontage.
Originally built as a Testimonial to honour Henry Witham's work, The Witham Hall housed the Mechanics Institute and Literary Society of Barnard Castle, which he founded, and the Public Dispensary for the Sick Poor. The Dispensary provided a lifeline for many inhabitants during the terrible cholera epidemic of 1849.
Over the last year the building has under gone modernisation and we were asked to do the handrails and railings for the new entrance ramp at front of the building. Cast iron newel posts and balustrade were made along with a genuine wrought iron handrail, made in a style to compliment the existing railings. |
