Our July 2009 Open Day focused on those interested to learn more about restoration and working with
GENUINE WROUGHT IRON.
They were shown how using traditional blacksmithing techniques can enhance the look of new work?
Our aim was to promote the understanding of the importance of correctly obtaining the right specification for restoration work.
For example, it is inappropriate for Portland Stone buildings to be repaired with concrete or gold jewellery with brass,
but genuine wrought iron gates, railings and many decorative items are being repaired and restored with mild steel or pure iron!
