Commissioned by the National Railway Museum in York, Chris - while a director of Dorothea Restorations - was asked to make a replica sixteenth Century guided wagon known as a ‘Hund’. A wooden body with wrought iron framework, made using contemporary evidence, these mining cars was used in Germany for getting minerals from the mine face.
‘Hund’ means ‘Dog’ – perhaps because of the growling sound the wooden wheels make on the rails.
