Single handed double edged sword with oak handle
Commissioned by Caley Construction in November 2011 we were asked to make a replica sword with oak handle for Sir John de Graeme Tomb in Falkirk. Falkirk Council received planning consent to carry out the refurbishment work to tomb that is in the Old Parish church yard, the original replica sword was snapped off its fixing and vandalised beyond repair around 10 years ago.
Sir John de Graeme fought with Wallace at the Battle of ‘Stirling Brig’ in 1297 but died in Falkirk in July 1298 when the Scots were defeated by the army of the King of England, Edward I, who invaded Scotland.
