In 2000 we were approached to work on a sculpture project using two contrasting metals for the Archbishop Holgate School in York. We worked closely with the school and architect in the design a mounted 1.5 metre cross as a focal point on the front curve of a new single storey building. We used genuine wrought iron which was etched with acid to soften and grain it, oxidised and coated in oil, giving a chocolate brown effect. For the lighter parts galvanised steel was used.
