Henry Cort Exhibition As part of the Millenium celebrations, a partnership of private enterprise and public bodies (The Fareham Partnership), set aside £500,000 for an international ironwork exhibition to commemorate the inventor of the puddling process for wrought iron, Henry Cort. Chris Topp & Co. has, on behalf of the Fareham Partnership, organised an international design competition for this exhibition. The company further acts as a technical consultant for both the Partnership and the contestants in respect of the exhibition.
The exhibition used, almost exclusively, the materials and techniques available prior to 1800, the date of Henry Cort's death, together with modern contemporary design. Competitors include sculptors, artist blacksmiths, and designers located all over Britain and Europe.
The exhibits are on permanent show in the High Street in Fareham Town Centre and is well worth a visit if you are in the area. You can find further information on the exhibition (including photographs) on the Fareham Borough Council Website
