Chris Topp & Co Ltd, founded in 1980 started as blacksmiths, specialising in ancient ironwork, have expanded to become prominent in the world of high quality architectural metalwork.
Working closely with architects, contractors and private clients, we pride ourselves on our complete architectural metalwork service, from concept to installation. Our gates create the right first impression while our balustrades ensure stylish ascents. We work in many metals, from ancient wrought irons, cast iron, steel, bronze and stainless steel. Our 'in house' design team are competent in both traditional and modern design, guaranteeing that whatever style is desired, our metalwork will add the right artistic value to its architectural environment.
We have been privileged to be involved with a wide variety of projects in style, scale and purpose including structural and decorative; from bandstands, nails and door hinges to practical archaeology. Amongst our most unusual projects we made a working replica of cannon from the Mary Rose and a headsman's axe for the Tower of London.
We are also metal processors, and have our own rolling mills in which we can produce small runs of special sections, specialising in matching metal mouldings no longer available from stock.
Prominent in the field of historic ironwork, our specifications are accepted as best practise by English Heritage and The National Trust. We also offer to specify work so that the client is assured, in a competitive environment, of quality and value for money.
We undertake both large and small projects for main contractors, local authorities and architects as well as many private clients with our reputation for high quality ironwork leading to a client list which includes; Historic Royal Palaces, Hampton Court, Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Palace of Westminster, The National Gallery, Chatsworth House.
